On the cover, the pair wore vibrantly coordinating suits, with Heidi lovingly planting a kiss on her daughter’s cheek. In another photo from the spread, Heidi rests her head on her mini-me’s shoulder. “So excited for my first cover!! I had so much fun on set with @voguegermany couldn’t dream of a better start!! Thank you for being by my side @heidiklum,” Leni wrote on Instagram, sharing the cover with her followers. In the accompanying interview, Heidi explained that she was fully supportive of her daughter’s modeling career, saying “16 is a good age.” She added: “If you are allowed to drive a car, you can also have an official Instagram account and show your face. And to be allowed to start with a Vogue cover is an insane privilege.” And for another supermodel kid taking center stage, check out Kate Moss’ 18-Year-Old Daughter Just Made Her Runway Debut. Leni added that “it was only a matter of time” before she followed in her mom’s modeling footsteps, but that her mom had previously put a stop to a previous gig she was offered. “The first [modeling] offer came when I was only 12 or 13, from a brand I liked to wear: Brandy Melville,“she said. “At that time I begged my mother, but no chance. Now I understand that it would have been too early.” And for more celebrity news delivered right to your inbox, sign up for our daily newsletter. I always thought she was too young. We always also decided to keep the children out of the public eye. But she’s driving a car now, she’s 16, so I figured if you can do that, you can also model now if this is what you wish to do,” she continued, echoing her quote in Vogue. “Who knows, maybe in five years when I’m not hosting the show anymore maybe it’s going to be like Germany’s Next Top Model by Leni Klum instead of Heidi Klum. Who knows. She’s kind of playing with this idea,” she added. “Obviously, as a mother, [I want my] child to do what she wants to do. The industry is great and I love it and I’ve been in it for over 20 years but it’s also, it’s a lot of traveling, it’s different,” she said. “You have to be a strong person, especially as a woman, you have to be very strong.” And for another Hollywood kid taking after their mom, check out Pink’s 9-Year-Old Daughter Just Debuted Her Incredible Singing Voice.
